About Us

History of JAL Hotels

JAL Hotels has been a hotel management company since its establishment in 1970 as a subsidiary of Japan Airlines Co. Ltd.

On July 1, 1996, Japan Airlines Development Ltd. was renamed to JAL Hotels Company Ltd. to emphasize its business goals as a hotel operator.

On April 1, 1999 JAL Hotels merged with Japan Airlines Hotel Co. Ltd., which resulted in the company’s management of the Ginza Nikko Hotel and Kawasaki Nikko Hotel.

On September 30, 2010, when JAL International sold 79.6% of JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. to Hotel Okura Co., Ltd., JAL Hotels became a consolidated subsidiary of Hotel Okura Co. JAL International retains 11.1% of JAL Hotels’ shares, and the remaining 9.3% is held by several major banks, institutional and individual investors.
