◇◆ニュピ / Nyepi – the Balinese New Year◆◇
バリ・ヒンドゥー教におけるサカ暦の元日「ニュピ」をご存知ですか。インドネシアでは多くの人がイスラム教を信仰していますが、バリ島ではバリ・ヒンドゥー教徒が多数を占めます。バリではこの日、火や電気を使うこと、外出することなどが禁じられており、「静寂の日」の名の通り島全体が静けさに包まれます。人々は新年を清らかに迎えるため、自宅で断食と瞑想を行うのだそう。
観光客も例外ではなく、ホテルの敷地内にとどまることが必要ですが、その分ゆったりと静かに過ごすことができます。夜には満点の星空を眺める特別な瞬間も。
　
2026年は本日3月19日の朝6時から、翌20日の朝6時までがニュピにあたります。「ホテル・ニッコー・バリベノアビーチ」にも、喧騒から離れた静謐な時間が流れています。

Today is Nyepi – the New Year on Balinese Hindu Saka calendar. While much of Indonesia’s population is Muslim, Balinese Hinduism is relatively common in Bali.
　
Nyepi is also known as the Day of Silence, when the entire island is enveloped in quiet and restrictions on fire/light usage, work, leaving home and entertainment are observed. People generally spend the day at home in a silent state of fasting and meditation. Visitors are also required to follow these restrictions and stay within their hotel, creating a valuable opportunity to experience the stillness of Bali in its purest form. The absence of light and activity across the island also reveals the spectacular star-filled nighttime sky in all its glory.
　
This year Nyepi falls on March 19, running for 24 hours from 6 a.m. This period is an oasis of peace and tranquility at @hotelnikkobali, away from the daily noise.
