Ben Thanh Market, Saigon’s most famous landmark, was originally constructed with brick, a wood frame, and a leaf roof. It was located next to the Ben Thanh riverbank, near Gia Dinh Citadel (present-day Ho Chi Minh City), hence its name.Having undergone multiple restorations and rebuilds, the market boasts a history of over 100 years, witnessing the city and country’s evolution.
Currently, the market houses approximately 1,500 stalls. In the southern section, products such as cloth and dried foods are sold. The northern area features fresh flowers, fruits, and food. In the eastern section, cosmetics, cookies, and candies are available for purchase. The western section offers shoes, handicrafts, and souvenirs.
The market is an ideal destination for souvenir shopping, offering a wide array of locally crafted goods and gifts.
