◇◆Setsubun – a day to pray for good health and fortune throughout the year◆◇
明日2月3日は「節分」です。本来、節分は季節が分かれる日という意味があります。立春、立夏、立秋、立冬の前日のことを指し、年4回存在します。その中で最も重視されているのが、立春の前日の「節分の日」。季節の分かれ目（節分）には、邪気が発生すると考えられており、豆まきをして邪気を払い、1年の無病息災を願います。
　
一般的な節分の風習といえば、豆まきですが、地域によって様々な節分の過ごし方があります。その一つに、関西発祥で恵方（＝吉方）を向き、願い事をしながら、太巻き寿司（恵方巻）を無言で食べる風習があります。今ではすっかり日本の文化として定着しつつありますね。
　
今年の恵方は「東北東」です。
皆様にとって福がたくさん訪れ、安全で平和な1年になりますように。
　
Japan’s traditional Setsubun (lit. “seasonal division”) event on February 3 marks the switch from winter to spring, and is particularly significant among the four annual changes. At this time, people follow a long-standing custom of throwing beans to drive out demons and evil spirits and wish for good health and fortune throughout the coming year.
　
Setsubun customs differ regionally, but the Kansai region’s custom of facing the year’s lucky direction (east-northeast for 2024) and eating thick sushi roll has now spread nationwide.

◇◆Cocktails and bread inspired by author Murasaki Shikibu◆◇
平安時代の京都を舞台に世界最古の長編小説といわれる源氏物語を生み出した紫式部。本日は『ホテルオークラ京都』でお楽しみいただける、紫式部や源氏物語をイメージしたカクテルやパンをご紹介します。
　
🍸若紫（わかむらさき）
「源氏物語」54帖の巻名から命名したノンアルコールカクテル。京都産柚子果汁を使った柚子サイダーと京都・大原の赤紫蘇を使った紫蘇ジュース、カシスシロップを合わせ「源氏物語」に描かれた恋愛模様を、グラデーションと甘酸っぱい風味で表現。柑橘をグラスに添えて、爽やかな香りもお楽しみください。
　
🍸藤袴（ふじばかま）
「源氏物語」の作中に登場し、京都にもゆかりのある「藤袴」の花をイメージしたカクテル。「季の美京都ドライジン」をベースに京都産柚子果汁を使った柚子サイダー、京都・大原の赤紫蘇を使った紫蘇ジュース、カシスリキュールを合わせ、淡いピンク色に仕上げています。
　
2024年4月末まで、ホテルオークラ京都内のレストラン・カフェ・バー7店舗にてご提供しています。
　
🍞紫季舞（しきぶ）
草花に造詣の深い紫式部にちなみ、花形に仕立てたパン。ヨーグルトを練り込んだ生地に、紫いもとさつまいもの餡を合わせています。やわらかくもっちりとした食感の中に、素朴で優しい甘さが広がる一品です。2024年2月末まで、「焼きたてパンパネッテリアオークラ」にてお買い求めいただけます。

Murasaki Shikibu is the author of the Tale of Genji – the world's oldest full-length novel, set in Kyoto during Japan’s Heian period (794 – 1185). Here we feature Hotel Okura Kyoto cocktails and bread inspired by the author and the novel’s story.

🍸Wakamurasaki
This non-alcoholic cocktail is named after the Tale of Genji. It combines non-alcoholic cider made with the juice of yuzu citrus from Kyoto, the juice of red perilla from Ohara, and cassis syrup, creating a color transition and sweetness that echoes the love story depicted in the novel. A citrus slice on the glass completes the refreshing aroma.

🍸Fujibakama
This cocktail is inspired by the Fujibakama (Thoroughwort Flower), which appears in the Tale of Genji and is associated with Kyoto. With Kinobi Kyoto dry gin as a base, it also incorporates non-alcoholic cider made with the juice of yuzu citrus from Kyoto, the juice of red perilla from Ohara, and cassis liqueur to create a delightful pale-pink hue.

The cocktails are being served at seven restaurants, cafes and bars at the Hotel Okura Kyoto until the end of April.
　
🍞Shikibu
This flower-shaped bread is named after Murasaki Shikibu, who had a deep knowledge of flowers and plants. It is made from dough kneaded with yogurt, and incorporates purple sweet potato and sweet potato paste. Its soft and chewy texture complements its simple and gentle sweetness.
The bread is available at the Bakery Panetteria Okura until the end of February.

◇◆Spring at the Okura Museum of Art◆◇
オークラ東京を訪れた際、敷地の一角にある中国古典様式の趣ある建物に目が留まった方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか？

こちらの建物は、現存する日本最古の私立美術館「大倉集古館」です。ホテルオークラの創業者である大倉喜七郎の父、大倉財閥創始者の大倉喜八郎は、日本やアジア諸国の古美術に関する当代有数の収集家でもありました。喜八郎と喜七郎が蒐集した日本の近代絵画などを中心として、国宝3件、重要文化財13件及び重要美術品44件を含む美術品約2500件を収蔵しています。

本日1月23日より大倉集古館では、春を祝し、今年の干支である龍や、花鳥風月をテーマとした「大倉集古館の春～新春を寿ぎ、春を待つ～」を展示いたします。
宗達派による「扇面流図屏風」を始め、名品として名高い横山大観筆「夜桜」など約30件を展示します。新春を寿ぎ、来る春を待つ時期にふさわしい作品をぜひお楽しみください。

The atmospheric classical-style Chinese building at the corner of the premises at The Okura Tokyo is Japan’s oldest existing private art museum – the Okura Museum of Art – with a history dating back to 1917. Kihachiro Okura, the founder of Okura Zaibatsu (Okura financial group) and the father of Hotel Okura's founder, Kishichiro Okura, was a leading collector of Japanese and Asian antiques of his day.

The museum houses approximately 2,500 works focusing on modern Japanese paintings collected by Kihachiro and Kishichiro, including 3 National Treasures, 13 Important Cultural Properties and 44 Important Art Objects.

The current exhibition features Scattered Fans on Water by Sotatsu School, Cherry Blossom Viewing at Night, a masterpiece of Yokoyama Taikan and other works to celebrate the new year and await the coming spring.

Admission is free for guests of The Okura Tokyo. Just inquire at the reception desk.
